New Lookup Fields

Posted by Chong on July 7, 2012

We've just created new lookup fields which allows you to reference a field on a different form. For example, let's say you have two forms: a Sales form and a Sales People form. On your Sales form you can create a lookup field which will be a dropdown list of all the sales people you have from the Sales People form. Lookup Field Values will display and store the values in the database. Lookup Field IDs will display the field's ID and values but only store the ID in the database.

You now have the ability to make certain fields viewable by you only as the administrator. Each field now has the 'Admin Only' option which you can check if you want to hide the field from others.

Application Programming Interface

Do you want to interface your data with 3rd party applications? Well now you can. We've added a Data Connect group to allow API connections to your data. For example, you can create an Excel Web Query to automatically pull your data from shrData into an Excel spreadsheet. The API outputs in a HTML table or JSON format. You will need to provide the form or dataset ID along with the API key generated to access the data. Click here for more info.

Data Portability

Now we've made exporting data easier than before. All you do is click on the Export button and choose a file format. This works great if you want to load your data into another application, or just make a backup copy. Your data is easily portable if you choose to leave shrData.
